J.J. Abrams and Supernatural Creator Team-Up for Revolution

“J.J. Abrams has never been known for not keeping busy, but it looks like Eric Kripke is trying to step up his game as well. Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, is teaming with Abrams for Revolution, a new project at NBC, reports Deadline. 

Like many Abrams-connected projects, exact details for Revolution – which is written by Kripke — are being kept a secret, but Deadline says it’s being described as “an epic adventure thriller.” 

Abrams, Kripke and frequent Abrams collaborator Bryan Burk are executive producing and NBC has given a pilot production commitment to the project, which comes from Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV. 

While Kripke is no longer showrunner on Supernatural (he stepped down from that role after Season 5), he remains an executive producer on the series and Revolution is his second new TV project in the works, along with Deadman – a DC Comics adaptation he’s working on at The CW. 

Among his many film projects, including Star Trek 2, which he is now committed to direct, in the TV realm Abrams just launched Person of Interest on CBS and has Alcatraz coming midseason to FOX. ”
